The small and tranquil village of…. Tordi Sagar is a reasonably short drive out of the city of Jaipur and a haven away from the craziness of the crowds. After settling in, a local women gives us henna tattoos at the guesthouse and we relax in the sun as they dry out. Me and Liz my roommate on the tour then head out for a quick walk.
Having explored an array of sites by foot and public transport, I was now in a fabric factory in Jaipur, learning how to do wooden block printing. Using only vegetable dyes and big stencil blocks, we were taught how to create our own colourful elephants. The inks came from coconut shells, sugar cane, mango leaf, saffron and turmeric. The fabric shop, Krishna Textiles, is also known for their excellent selection of high-quality clothing, so some members of the group took the opportunity to purchase tailor-made suits and sarees.
Tordi Sagar is a tiny village in India that I visited as part of a group travel tour around India with Intrepid Travel. It was the fourth place we visited as part of the tour after visiting Delhi, Varanasi and Agra and the Taj Mahal, and we were only there for one night. Being in the middle of the countryside, it was so delightfully calm and still. I really enjoyed being able to relax, breathe in the fresh air, and go at a slightly slower pace for 24 hours.
